If you do not need a group anymore but do not want to delete it either, you can use the archive button in edit mode or the more menu in the detail view to archive a group. Archived entries can be viewed, restored or deleted on the "Archived" screen.

Archivation is not synced to other devices. So if you archive a group it will not be archived on your other devices or on devices of friends you shared the group with.
